Privacy Policy
Solora is a family organizer: a shared calendar, chores, meals, lists and photos that sync between your family's phones and a Solora wall display at home. This policy explains what data Solora handles, where it lives, who it is shared with and the choices you have.
The short version: your family's calendars, chores, lists, meals, photos and messages are stored on your own Solora hub at home, not on our servers. When you use Solora away from home, that traffic is encrypted end to end between your phone and your hub, and our servers only pass it along. We don't sell your data, show ads or use third-party analytics or tracking.
1. Who we are
"Solora", "we" and "us" mean the developer of the Solora apps and services. Questions about this policy or your data: solora.support@gmail.com.
2. Data stored on your hub (at home)
Your Solora hub is a device in your home. It stores your household's content:
- Family member profiles (names, colors, birthdays, avatars)
- Calendar events, reminders, chores, rewards, meal plans and lists
- Photos you share to the wall display
- Events copied from Google or Microsoft calendars you choose to connect, and the access tokens for those connections
- Hub settings, such as the place you choose for the weather forecast
This content stays on your hub. Our servers can't read it. Anyone your household admin invites to the hub can see the household content, according to the permissions the admin sets.
3. Data we collect on our servers
To run sign-in, pairing and remote access, our servers (Solora Central) store:
- Account information: your email address, name and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we store the account ID and email that provider gives us instead of a password.
- Sign-in sessions: session tokens and when they were last used, so you stay signed in and can sign out of other devices.
- Device information: an identifier for each hub, wall display and phone you pair, its type, app version and platform, and when it was last online. We use this to keep devices connected and deliver app updates.
- Invites: pending invitations to join a hub, until they are used or expire.
- Diagnostic logs: technical logs from your devices (errors, connection status). Solora support staff can read your hub's diagnostic logs only after a household admin approves a support request in the app, and only for the time the admin allows.
- Notifications: service notices we send to your devices, such as update announcements.
- Network data: IP addresses in server logs, used for security and abuse prevention.
Our staff tools identify households by a random reference code, not by name or email.
4. Data the apps use on your device
The app asks for these permissions, and each is used only for the purpose listed:
- Camera: to scan the QR code on your hub, wall display or a family member's phone. Images are not stored or uploaded.
- Bluetooth and location: to notice when you're next to your wall display or another family member's phone, so you can tap phones to share an invite and the display can wake up and greet you. On iOS and Android, detecting Bluetooth beacons requires location permission. Your location is not sent to us or stored. The "always" location option is off until you turn it on.
- Local network and Wi-Fi state: to find and talk to your hub on your home network.
- Notifications: to show reminders and family updates.
The wall display app also uses permissions to stay on screen, set its wallpaper, play sounds and install Solora's own updates.
5. How we use data
- To create and secure your account and sign you in
- To pair your devices with your hub and keep them in sync, at home and away
- To send account emails, such as invites and password resets
- To deliver app updates and service notices
- To diagnose problems, but only when your household admin allows it
- To protect the service against fraud and abuse
We don't use your data for advertising, sell it or use it to build profiles of you.
6. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Solora, or when the law requires it:
- Hosting provider: our servers run on a virtual private server hosted by Hostinger. It stores the server data described in section 3.
- Email delivery: an email service sends account emails and receives your email address and the message.
- Google and Microsoft: if you choose to sign in with them or connect their calendars, you sign in on their site, and your hub reads your calendar events from them. Their own privacy policies apply to what you share with them.
- Open-Meteo: your hub sends the place you choose for weather (a city or coordinates) to Open-Meteo to get the forecast. No account information is sent.
- App stores: Google Play and the Apple App Store deliver the apps and may give us anonymous install and crash statistics under their own policies.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of users or others.
If Solora is ever sold or merged, this policy will continue to apply to data collected under it, and we'll tell you before anything changes.
7. Security
- All connections to our servers use HTTPS (TLS).
- Remote access between your phone and your hub is end-to-end encrypted; our servers relay it without being able to read it.
- Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Staff sign in with passkeys, and every staff action is written to a tamper-evident audit log that your household can see in the app under Settings › Hub › Privacy & support.
8. How long we keep data
- Account and device information: while your account is active, and deleted when you delete the account
- Diagnostic logs: 30 days
- Delivered notifications: 90 days
- Expired or revoked sign-in sessions: up to 7 days
- Server backups: up to 14 days
- Hub content: on your hub until you delete it, reset the hub or delete your account
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can view and edit your profile and household content in the app.
- Deletion: email solora.support@gmail.com from your account's email address to ask us to delete your account and its server data; we'll do it within 30 days. A household admin can erase the household's content at any time with Settings › Danger Zone › Reset hub data.
- Permissions: you can turn off camera, Bluetooth, location and notification access at any time in your phone's settings. Features that need them will stop working, and the rest of the app keeps working.
- Support access: you can deny or end support access to your diagnostics at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to how it's used. Email us to use them; we won't treat you differently for doing so.
10. Children
Solora is a family app. Children can have profiles on a household hub, created and managed by a parent or guardian who is the household admin. Children's profiles and the chores, rewards and events attached to them are stored on the family's hub, not on our servers. Solora accounts are meant to be created by adults; we don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) without a parent's consent. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. International users
Our servers may be located outside your country. By using Solora, your account and device information is processed where our servers are, with the protections described in this policy.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
13. Contact
Email solora.support@gmail.com with any questions or requests about your privacy.
